What is the
minimum requirement to apply for undergraduate courses?
For BSc (Hons) in Textile Science
‘C' Grade in Intermediate
(F.Sc.) - Pre-Engineering
GCE ‘A' Levels with pass
in three subjects (Maths, Physics & Chemistry)
For all other programs
‘C' Grade in Intermediate
(any discipline)
GCE ‘A' Levels with pass
in any three major subjects

What is the
duration of undergraduate courses offered at TIP?
All undergraduate courses offered at
TIP are of 4 years (8 semesters) duration with two semesters per year (Fall
& Spring)

Where can I
purchase the admission pack?
The admission pack including the
prospectus, admission form and sample test papers can be purchased from TIP's
city office at 10-E, Block 6, P.E.C.H.S., Karachi.

What is the
cost of the admission pack?
The admission pack costs Rs. 1,500/-
and this also includes the admission test processing charges.

I have
taken Intermediate (2nd year) exam this year and results are expected
later, am I eligible to apply at TIP?
Yes, certainly you can apply.
However, even if you clear the admission test requirements, you will be given a
provisional admission on the assumption that you will clear all your subjects with
‘C' grade. Failing to do so will result in cancellation of your admission.

What is the
fee structure at TIP?
The
following fees are payable every semester

In addition
to the above fee, security deposit of Rs. 5000/- is charged at the time of
admission and is refundable at the end of the course.
*These
charges are current but subject to review anytime during academic year.
TIP reserves the right to review its tuition and other fees annually to
cover inflation and other costs.

Can I pay
my fees in instalments?
At the time of admission all fees
must be paid in full for the first semester. However for subsequent semesters
there is an option of paying fees in three instalments.

What do you
mean by Credit Hour?
The term ‘Credit Hour' refers to the
instructional or teaching time given to students every week for the entire
semester. For example, a 3 credit hour course will have 3 hours of
instructional time per week through out the semester.

How many
credit hours are required to graduate?
All undergraduate programs require
132 credit hours to graduate which normally requires 4 years (8 semesters).

I have
taken combined 1st and 2nd year intermediate exam. Can I
apply at TIP?
Yes, however, even if you clear all
admission test requirements, you will be given a provisional admission on the
assumption that you will clear all your subjects with ‘C' grade. Failing to do
so will result in cancellation of your admission.

What is the
criteria for applying for financial assistance?
Merit Scholarships 3.25 GPA
Interest Free Loans 2.75 GPA
Financial assistance to students is
strictly given on need cum merit basis. Students can only apply for financial
assistance after completing the first year of studies based upon their performance
in the first two semesters and will have to reapply every semester on the basis
of their performance in the previous semester.

Do you
offer any scholarship in the first semester?
Students could only avail the
scholarship and financial assistance facility after the completion of first two
semester (first year). There is no such provision for the first semester.

I have
failed one subject in intermediate (first year) am I eligible to apply as I
have undertaken all second year as well as the failed first year subject?
No, those students who are waiting
for the second year intermediate results can only apply for admissions if they
have passed all the first year subjects.

I have done
F.Sc. (Computer Science) with Maths, Physics and Computers. Can I apply for the
B.Sc. (Hons) Textile Science Program?
No you can not. In order to apply
for the Textile Science Programme, F.Sc. (Pre-Engg.) with Physics, Chemistry
and Maths subjects is a pre-requisite. However you are eligible for the rest of
our programmes.

I have not
done intermediate, instead I have a technical diploma. Am I eligible for your
programmes?
In order to apply, you will need to
produce an equivalency certificate from the board of your area stating that
your diploma is equivalent to Intermediate.

Is there
any possibility of transferring credit hours to TIP's Programs?
No, we do not allow any such
transfers because course content of different institutes are quite different.
However, for subjects that are almost alike, exemption may be awarded after passing
an Advance Placement Test (APT). In order to apply for any exemption, detailed
course outlines along with the transcripts must be provided for evaluating the
similarity among the courses.

If I pass
an Advance Placement Test in a particular subject, will I still be charged fee
for that course?
No, for all exempted courses, fee is
not charged.

If I am not
satisfied with my performance in the Advance Placement Test (APT), will I still
be able to take this course and drop my exemption?
After a grade is allotted in the
Advance Placement Test, it is entirely up to you to accept that grade or you
can undertake that course by submitting its course fee.

What are
the job prospects after graduating from TIP?
It is a matter
of great pride that all 563 graduates to date have been successfully placed in
leading textile mills, garment factories and buying houses, with the majority
earning salaries ranging from Rs. 10,000 - Rs. 25,000/- per month at the start
of their careers.

I want to sit in both B.Sc. (Hons) Textile Science and BBA (Hons)
Textile Management and Marketing admission test, is it possible?
No, you can
only sit in one discipline and you have to indicate your choice in the
application form.

What is the admission criterion at TIP?
Admission to
the Institute is strictly on merit as determined through an internal aptitude
test of TIP and interview. Successful candidates passing the aptitude test will
only qualify for the interview. Candidates passing the interview will then be
short listed for admission at TIP.

From where should I prepare for my admission test?
The subject
matter used for the Test is based upon the current syllabi prescribed by the
Board of Intermediate Education in Pakistan.
The English Language section tests competency in English, as English is the
medium of instruction at TIP.

Is TIP affiliated with any Institution?
TIP was initially established with academic support
from Clemson
University, South Carolina, USA. To date about 35 students have gained
admission at Clemson University on the basis of their academic performance and
attendance at TIP. This reinforces the fact that our programs are
recognized abroad.
TIP also has
had various higher education links supported by the British Council, with the University
of Manchester.
An important feature of the understanding is the recognition of undergraduate
credits earned over the first two years at TIP for transfer to the University
of Manchester
for further completion of the degree.

Are the degrees awarded by TIP recognized?
TIP has an independent Charter granted by the
Government of Sindh, empowering it to award its own degrees and is recognized
and approved by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) previously known as
University Grants Commission (UGC).

Where is the main
campus situated?
TIP's main campus is located on main national highway
about 40 kilometers from the main city centre.

Does TIP provide
its students with transport facility?
The Institute arranges transportation for all its
students covering the entire Karachi. A nominal bus fee of Rs. 12,500 per semester is charged.

Is your transport
facility optional as I reside in Gulshan-e-Hadeed and I do not want to use your
transport facility
Yes, the transport facility is optional. Students
wishing to use their own transport will not be charged with the transport fee
(Rs. 12,500 per semester). However a special transport arrangement is also made
for students residing in Gulshan-e-Hadeed at a rate of Rs. 5,500 per semester.

Do you conduct
admission tests anywhere else than Karachi?
For candidates residing in Punjab, we do conduct a separate test in Lahore. The venue and dates of admission is publicized in
all leading newspapers.

If I do not qualify
for TIP's financial assistance program, is there any other possibilities of
funding?
TIP has an arrangement with NIB Bank for the provision
of funding at nominal interest rates. You can use this facility in case you do
not qualify for TIP's financial assistance programme.

Do you have on campus hostel facilities?
Yes, we have
separate hostels for both male and female students. Hostel rooms are well
equipped and are provided to students on twin sharing basis. Hostel accommodation
is charged at Rs. 12,500 per semester.

Can Karachi based students use
the hostel facility?
It all depends upon
the availability of the rooms. First priority will be given to outstation
students. To apply for hostel accommodation, it must be indicated on the
admission form. However a fresh application would be required from you every
semester.
